Welcome To CCC, Devoted To The Well-Being Of Children And Their Families

CCC is a not for profit organization with a public concern of the well-being of children and their families.  Through our research, we have seen a trend towards the unique macro institution of the family and its loss of power in our current social welfare process.  The issues that were solved within the family have now become the business of welfare institutions, family courts and community based service providers.  While in some instances, intervention has saved families, we see a building trend towards families being separated and unable to be reunified after intervention.  Statistically, child abuse has declined fairly evenly over the past nine decades. However, foster care enrollments have increased dramatically.  This is an area we feel is a failing in the process and one that needs to be changed.

Our mission is to inform the various tiers of social service interveners of current social trends through both research, publications and conferences to unite advocates, legislators and jurists.  By following this template, our mission to reach out to the many advocates of children and families will create a strong consortium of partnership nationwide.

How Family Advocacy Can Help Children's Outcomes

The mission statement of almost every child welfare agency within the United States is the goal of keeping the children with their family.  In any investigation, this is supposed to be the investigator's first line response.  However, much has blurred this mission as a goal and instead, we have fallen into a world of defensive action.

The reason why welfare agencies advocate this ideology is because of the mountains of social science research which show that children fare best in their own biological homes.  Even if some type of neglect/physical abuse has occurred, if families can work as a group with the state government to preserve the family unit, better outcomes are achieved.  Some issues such as these are discussed at these links: http://www.nccpr.org/newissues/1.html, http://www.nccpr.org/newissues/11.html

Furthermore, the Associate Dean at a well respected law school in Connecticut, UCONN Law School has written this very well organized analysis of the short-comings of the current system:  http://lsr.nellco.org/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1054&context=uconn/ucwps

A good guidebook for following reasonable effort requirements of Federal laws can be found at this link: http://www.emcf.org/pdf/children_makingreason.pdf

Another very well written analysis written by Law Professor Dorothy Roberts can be found at this link:  http://www.northwestern.edu/ipr/publications/papers/children.pdf

More research done by the Pew Commission on Foster Children can be found at this link: http://pewfostercare.org/research/voices/voices-complete.pdf

The Rutherford Institute issue paper can be found here:  http://familyrightsassociation.com/bin/white_papers-articles/Notes70

There are many more social research which seem to overwhelmingly point towards a failure of the current system and a need for revision.
